Feng Shui Emporium: Statuary: Kuan Yin and Tara

KUAN YIN is the Goddess of Mercy and Compassion and is also the Protectress of Children. It is a gracious gesture to place a vase with a flower next to her. She is wearing a Lotus rosary with 3 end beads which symbolize the Buddhist Trinity (Buddha, The Word and The Priesthood). The small bump on her forehead and the bulge on the crown of her head are marks of enlightenment. Made of porcelain, her serene, seated countenance will bless any room. Having her be the first thing people see when they come into your office or home is a wonderful way greet clients and friends. We offer a variety of lovely Kuan Yin statuary - some with fabulous auspicious dragons swarming at her feet - and all very beautifully crafted.

Kuan Yin with Her Vase of Nectar
In China, Kuan Yin is the Goddess of Mercy and Compassion and is also the Protectress of Children. In India, she is represented as the female version of the male deity known as Avalokitesvara, "The One Who Hears the Cries of the World." In this figure she is seated in the Lotus posture, which is best for meditation, and seated on a double lotus pedestal. The lotus represents purity and divine birth. Her hands are held in the mudra of concentration, in which rests a vase that holds the nectar of her compassion. This can hold a small amount of water and a flower bud, if you wish. Measures 14 inches tall. Item #KY-V.

Tara originated as a Hindu goddess, the Mother Creator, representing the eternal life force that fuels all life. There are many embodiments of Tara, but the best known are the White Tara and the Green Tara. The peaceful, compassionate White Tara gently protects and brings long life and peace. In Sanskrit, the name Tara means Star. Adopted by Buddhism, she become the most widely revered deity in the Tibetan pantheon. In Buddhist tradition, Tara is actually much greater than a goddess -- she is a female Buddha, an enlightened one was has attained the highest wisdom, capability and compassion, one who can take human form and who remains in oneness with the every living thing.
